Top Environmental Award for BioCote

March 12, 2010

A Wolverhampton-based company has been internationally recognised for its outstanding environmental performance after receiving the prestigious ISO 14001 certification.

BioCote specialises in developing silver antimicrobial technology, which is becoming increasingly important in hygiene critical environments like hospitals and the food industry to help reduce the risk of cross contamination and subsequently people being infected with superbugs like MRSA and E.coli. By incorporating BioCote technology into products, it can help reduce harmful bacteria in these environments by up to 99%.

ISO 14001 is a stringent set of measures primarily concerned with environmental management. The certification means BioCote meets standards and independent inspection on practices to minimise the environmental effects of its activities and continually improves its environmental performance.

Graham Harvey, commercial director at BioCote, commented: “Ultimately, it’s all about sustainability, therefore by implementing ISO 14001 it highlights our ongoing commitment to act in an environmentally conscious way.

“Achieving this standard has been a real team effort from all of our staff based at Wolverhampton Science Park. Moving forward, it enables us to review our environmental practices on an ongoing basis to ensure we are offering the best and most efficient service to our customers.”
